Glass
Mount Antenna:
Even
though the antennas on this page are rated with their "gain"
listed, this type of antenna mounting configuration is the least efficient
of all. This type of antenna mounting does not have the benefit of groundplane
and transfers the signal by an electrical phenomenon that is called
capacitive coupling. There is signal loss between the antenna and the
coupling box on the inside of the glass hence this type of antenna configuration
will have inferior performance when compared to the same antenna with
same antenna cable that is connected directly to the co-ax cable.

antennas or magnetic antennas or through roof
antennas

Smoothtalker
on glass antennas include SEMRC205 quad shield low loss co-ax antenna cable.
This cable is a flexible cable with a solid center conductor, four layers of
shielding and has the lowest loss specifications for cable of its diameter (.205
inches). SEMRC205 quad shield low loss co-ax antenna cable at 15 ft. of length
with a connector on each end has less than 1.8 dB total loss at 850 Mhz, and
less than 3.25 dB total loss at 1920 Mhz.
NOTES:
1-information
listed below shows antenna performance as measured in our laboratory and field
antenna performance in the environment listed. Field performance measurements
vary with physical location and sometimes show increased performace figures
and sometimes show decreased performance figures than those listed below.
2-All
Smoothtalker external antennas are available with either FME female or MCT Female
connectors. If a smoothalker antenna is to be connected to a device or cable
with any other type of RF connector, then an antenna
cable connector adapter will be required.
3-To
learn more about how an external cellantenna designed for use in car, truck,
boat or SOHO (small office or home office) will perform and how to make the
right choice of antenna for the environment where the digital antenna or analog
antenna is to be used, the following technical document is recommended reading:
